I am a perpetual student and practitioner of the metaphysical arts (meta which is latin for beyond, and physical which, of course stands for that which is physical or something we can apply one of our natural senses to), natural health, wellness and beauty. Since a very young age, these were topics that were of high interest to me and the longer the time flows, the more inquisitive I became. However, as I continue on this journey, I am always looking of ways to help others through blogs, products and different kinds of sessions.

Aside from that, I find interest in many other things which include cooking. I may still be slightly on the burning water level, but I definitely have a desire to be a better cook one day as soon as I can get a minute in. I find the cooking with athritis site to be very informative and amazing. My grandmother recently was diagnosed with rheumatoid athritis and I am, as always, looking for different ways to make it better for her.

So all in all, my journey is not a lonesome one. I am very much grounded when I need to be and am always looking forward to meeting new and interesting people who have similar interests and would enjoy to talk about it. My website is www.mystical-inspiration.webs.com , so any who is interested are more than welcome to check it out.

Namaste!

Angel

My oldest daughter had bladder infections, strep infections, headaches and fatigue from the time she was a baby. My son had childhood depression, a potassium deficiency, sinus, stomach, and joint problems. I have watched friends and neighbors with liver dysfunction, cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. My husband is the picture of health, ...and always has been that way. He rarely gets sick and has plenty of energy without requiring more than 7 hrs of sleep.

When I was 20, I was diagnoses with a gluten intolerance which nearly killed me. I have read and studied and gone to doctors, chiropractors and dietitians. Much of what I know has come from study, research, and trial and error. I am a student of too many doctors and other professionals to mention.

The one thing I have found out through all of this is that YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH. DON?T GIVE THAT CONTROL AWAY TO ANYONE. Too many of my friends and family have ended up victims of doctors or hospitals, addicted to prescription drugs, or dying from the side effects. And the alternative methods have not been the answer either, if you want a full and normal life. Life is eating. It is chocolate, candy and ice cream. It is steak and hamburgers and chicken. So what do we do? What can we do?

I learned you have to Learn to Listen To Your Own Body. Read, study and keep current on new medical advancements. Do the best you can, eat the best you can, and go to the doctor when you need to and integrate complimentary medicine with your traditional treatment.

When I got breast cancer a couple of years ago, I was encouraged to learn all I could, and do all I could to help myself. The list of doctors I went to included: a general practitioner, a surgeon, a radiologist, an oncologist, a support group (for emotional health), a cardiologist, and lab technicians, all of these to monitor and watch out for me. My oncologist was the one that told me, that years ago the medical profession thought they were doing a good job treating cancer, ...until they went back and evaluate survivors. It was then they found they had a long long way to go to be successful in treating cancer. Cancer survivors were left with almost no quality of life. Since that time, medical researchers and providers have gone to great lengths to learn and develop better ways to restore health along with killing the cancer. They have come to realized the importance of whole foods and herbs in building back the immune system. In my case, all my medical doctors agreed it was only smart to include good nutrition as part of achieving over-all, quality health before, during and after chemotherapy.

I take Nikken Kenzen and Bio-Directed whole food supplements. All Nikken supplements are Pharmaceutical Grade. But, good health does not stop there. We need clean air to breath and water to drink, exercise more, and get a good, restful sleep. Nikken has technology for all of these areas that are certified and proven through double blind placebo studies with over 6,000 medical professionals using and recommending them. These products have been organized to create a Wellness environment: a place to relax, rejuvenate and renew.

I now live in a Wellness Home. It is much easier to create than you might think. Wellness is a way to live and enjoy modern day living, while still maintaining your health.

I love my Wellness Home.

Visit Cindy's web site :

http://www.rheu-osteo-jra.com/index.html

I will let her tell you all about it. I hope you all are inspired enough by her story to go right on over and join her group , she has posted the address . So I won't keep you any longer meet Julie !

:D

Hi, my name is Julie. I?m a 41 year old single woman with fibromyalgia living in Perth, Western Australia. I have known I have had fibromyalgia for about three years now but, looking back, I think I may have had it much longer. It is hard to know for sure. When I was first diagnosed, my main feeling was one of relief that it was nothing more serious and that it had a name and I wasn?t just imagining it all. It took quite a while for it to sink in that this was something that was going to impact on everything I did for the rest of my life and that there is currently no cure. It is something I?m still adjusting to and learning about as a result.

In the process of learning about living with fibromyalgia, as I am a very solitary person without any family, I started looking online for support groups. I found quite a few but I also discovered that there wasn?t really much support for people like me who were trying to stay in paid employment while managing my illness. I also felt like something of a fraud on a lot of support groups for being well enough ? most of the time ? to work in any capacity. I didn?t feel like I was sick enough to belong to those groups.

About twelve months ago, a new person started at my workplace and I was given the responsibility of doing her initial training as she was starting from scratch and was going to need a lot of help on the more technical aspects. She was only able to work four hours a day as she had been very ill. A few weeks after we had been working together, it came up in conversation that I had fibromyalgia and she confessed to having chronic fatigue syndrome. We began swapping notes and tips. Soon after that, another person was employed with both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and we began to joke that we were all ?tough nuts? for managing to hold down a job. Our workplace doesn?t allow much conversation and some things we wanted to discuss weren?t really suitable for a workplace anyway. One of us joked that we needed to form our own support group and website so we could discuss everything ? and I proceeded to just that. The website is called Tough Nuts and its address is: www.freewebs.com/toughnuts.

A couple of weeks ago, Melinda discovered my site and she liked it so much that she mentioned it on her own site and offered to let me come on her site and plug it as well ? which is what I am now doing. I have also joined Melinda?s site as I think it is a great site, although I am in awe of anybody able to cook with any degree of expertise. My cooking is of the hit and miss variety! Please feel free to come along and have a look and join up if you feel that the site is for you.

Julie

FEATURED MEMBER LISA STAFFORD

Hello All ! I would like to interduce you all to our newest member Lisa Stafford . Lisa is a writer who has so much to offer our group. I love when I am blessed with fellow Authors . So without further ado , heres Lisa .

I love folk literature and I am fascinated by other cultures. The children’s book I wrote, The Trickster and the Howling Wind, was inspired by African folklore. I wanted to intertwine universal lessons on honesty and integrity, with the history and traditions of Africa. I originally wrote The Trickster and the Howling Wind as a screenplay. I was working as a freelance script writer for a children’s show, and wrote the script initially for that purpose. The producer/director I was working with loved the story and suggested that I adapt the script into a children’s book. I took his suggestion and with the help of Gunther Gordon, a talented illustrator, was able to turn the script for The Trickster and the Howling Wind, into a children’s book. The Trickster and the Howling Wind is a children’s picture book for young children, between the ages of five and twelve.

The book of poetry, At Home on the Edge, was far more personal. This is a collection of some of the poems I have written over the years, and was an attempt to explore some of the social and personal issues that have shaped my life. At Home on the Edge is intended for a more mature audience, and is for adults of all ages.

I have experienced modest success in selling The Trickster and the Howling Wind and At Home on the Edge independently. However, my goal is to expand the distribution of these books. I would like to write a line of children’s books that is both educational and entertaining, teaches moral principles, and appeals to children of diverse cultures.

:D

BIO – LISA STAFFORD

Lisa Stafford is a native of South Florida. Stafford currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and is member of the Georgia Writers Association.

:)

http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/203283/?utm_source=badge&utm_medium=banner&utm_content=140x240

http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/192759/?utm_source=badge&utm_medium=banner&utm_content=140x240

http://www.authorsden.com/lisaastafford

Lisa has helped many through her writings in the short time she has been a member. It truely is a blessing to have her as a part of our healing family. So at tis time I would like to introduce you all to Lisa .

:D

Hi , I am the Local Missions Representative, in our home church, a freelance writer and speaker, as well as being, highly involved with human rights needs. I’ve always aspired to be a published writer. I’ve been published by a few magazines and smaller competitions. I’ve been involved with many local and abroad causes, like a local food bank, which I help with, gaining much needed donations and supplies. I’ve spoken to encourage teens at local high schools, in groups such as; The Christian Athletes Association. I am a 42 year old, happily married, mom of two wonderful sons! (And a lil yorkie)! As the Missions rep in my local church, I am the liaison, between the Missionaries and the local church. I try to show the message of Missions, is one that really involves us all, whether it be locally, or in a more abroad sense of the term! I teach Sunday school for the Teens, and help w/ youth group! I’ve written, since I was a young child.(Under a blanket many times, my folks said, with a flash light, when I should have been fast asleep!) I’ve even been featured, growing up, in my own High Schools Yearbook.

I suffer from a bladder disease with no cure, and like to encourage others, that in adverse situations, YOU CAN MAKE IT...thru what ever! The God of the mountains is still God in our valleys! I love the Lord, and love to share His goodness to all! I was diagnosed approximately 3 years ago, with Interstitial Cystitiis, which I thought to be just ongoing bouts of Urinary Tract Infections. When the infections got to be more frequent, I started seeking out answers to the continual repetition that seemed to be plaguing my physical being. I was referred to a Urologist, who after performing a Cystoscopy in the hospital, diagnosed the disease of IC. There is no yet known cure for this disease. The treatments, are basically, treat the pain type treatments. I have a daily regimen of pills, diet, and such to try my best to keep the pain to at least a minimal. The Specialist told me, after my 2nd Cystoscopy, that my case is a more severe case of the disease. The diagnosis is that the disease progresses, in leaving the person with more frequency of urination, more bladder spasms, more blood in the urine, and in general more daily pain, as the person ages. He’s even spoken to me, that I could in time face more bouts of incontinence, and pain, with the progression. The pill regimen, of Elmiron, (which is a pill specifically for Interstitial Cystitis sufferers, ) is mainly like an analgesic to try to coat the bladder area. I take daily pain medication; I’ve been on Tramadol for over a couple of year’s straight now. I actually started taking tramadol, when I started having recurring bouts of Pancreatitis, actually known, as chronic pancreatitis. A doctor, when removing my gallbladder, a few years ago, dropped stones, blocking my pancreas. This bout, probably would have taken my life, had it not been for a specialist, who was able to diagnose, the sudden weight loss, and extreme sickness, that I was experiencing, after my gallbladder removal! When I’d gone into a full blown bout of Pancreatitis, the specialist said, that this was probably the cause of my Pancreatic symptoms, seeing as how, I do not drink, which is a more known cause of Pancreatic symptoms. I had several surgeries, with this minor physical setback in life, including, duct cleaning, and syphincterotomy of the pancreas. The surgery which is somewhat major is called an ERCP, to clean those ducts. It is performed only by a specialist. It was quite successful, but, however, I’ve found, that several foods, can still really aggravate the pancreas, and set me back in to symptoms of pancreatitis, if I do not watch, what I eat. I was put on Tramadol, as a pain, killer for all the pain I endured, with this whole experience. It was after that all, that the IC, was diagnosed. I’d had many recurring infections, and just chalked them up for normal infections. Thank God a specialist finally saw that there was more there, than met the eye. Along with the regimen of pill therapy, I’ve been treated with what are called DMSO , or actually bladder coating treatments, thru intravenous bladder catheterizations. Their main side affect, is hair loss, and garlic like odor, that accompanies, after the treatment, for a day or two. (Of which my hubby loves garlic, so that was always ok, LOL) The other main side affect, was minor hair loss, of which, it seemed, my tub drain, caught much of this, but it was never severe! Thank God. I’ve always loved to hike, bike, fish, and hunt, play my guitar, and even love to dabble with WV nature photography! (Which I’m trying now to start my own website, where I can highlight and sell my lovely photos!) God has been good to me, in spite of some minor physical tests I’ve endured. I love to take that message to all who will listen, through my written and spoken word! My hope is to manifest life at it's fullest in my writings. May God Bless you as you journey through life, and may we all do something ever day we live, to affect each others lives for the better! If you are interested in my freelance, or some Wild and Wonderful West Virginia outdoors photography, please contact me, I would be more than happy to assist you. I believe all of our lives, intertwine in our meetings and such, and God uses that divinely. I was led to Mel, thru my newer posting on HUBPAGES, where I’m known there as “rickyracer”, if you want to read more of my writings and such there! (My hubby is Rick, I call him rickyracer ` LOL) I’m also starting to post/publish some on Helium online writing community, where my writing name is renewd1966 which I thank God He’s renewd my life, and 1966, is my birth year! I thank God I was led to Mels pages, she is so very talented herself, and I feel it yet another, “divine appointment” in my life! She invited me to her site, to post about dealing with my chronic pain/s. Although I do not have Arthritis, my mother suffers from this debilitating disease, and I know much myself, about chronic type pain. I believe 100% that we can use diet, exercise, and lifestyle to help our illnesses, and our pains. I’m excited about being a part of this…new community of friends, as we all better learn, and encourage each other! Blessings! Lisa N.

This Weeks Featured Member is Sick of the Pain

I am honored to introduce you to this weeks member Sick of the Pain. She is a very brave woman, a hero in every aspect. This woman may endure great pain but it has not stopped her.Through her writings she is helping so many. Please welcome her. :D

Thank you Melinda for wanting to feature me in your member of the week. I told my husband earlier that you must see something in me that I dont. And he got a little angry so he must see it too. Hopefully I was dealt this awful pain card so that I can help others that have it too, Or the ones that need to be diagnosed and are going to go thru test after test, all the doctors and specialists coming up empty handed, or finding something and literally taking pieces of you out at a time, surgery after surgery, until theirs nothing left inside, all shaking their heads, then send you to the next specialist who knows exactly what it is, then the whole roller coaster starts again. Always ending the same. That goes on for about 20 years, Well thats how my story is anyway! I'm hoping that maybe I can help some or many save themselves 20 years of not knowing whats wrong with them. You'll hear many times that its all in your head, you can feel them all looking at you the same. Friends and Family, loved ones all think maybe your a hypochondriac and the drs probably think it too. All the millions of excruciating trips to the ER because your pain meds just cant even take the pain away a little bit. They also end the same, drs and nurses all think maybe your just a street junkie searching for narcotics. But you know something's terribly wrong with you! There is! It is called Interstitial Cystitis and it is very real and very horrible, and its not deadly, but during a flare your not to sure of that The pain that comes with it, is for me constant 24/7. You think the pain cant get any worse day to day but it does. Sometimes you can take a little walk without feeling like your bladder's going to fall out. Other times you cant take walking back to the bathroom again. You may have to go to the bathroom up to 50 to 60 times a day. Which makes fibromyalgia that much worse, because you really cant get a good night sleep if your up all night going to the bathroom, sometimes when you jump out of bed in the middle of the night your legs and hips and all your other joints wont go as fast as you need to so you dont make it in time, but thats another story! Luckily with the right Urologist he will get you on the right meds, if your insurance will pay for them that is. (The urologist doesnt have to be a he, mine just happened to be one) There is a couple meds that can help alot with that, I'm down to probably 14 times a day and up 2 or 3 times a night which is great. Trust me. I also have endometriosis, so it was a toss up for all those years whether it was a gynecology problem or a urology problem. Both Dr's being positive it was the other ones problem. Meanwhile I'm still stuck in the middle dying from the pain and no one cares, but us. Finally they did a hysterectomy. (not wanted) I kinda liked having that part of me, but you'll do anything if they promise you, the pain will stop. Which I've been told so many times! After my 6 week check up, I went back to my gyno, he said how do you feel. (smiling) me-(crying) said exactly the same only now the pain is worse and I still bleed when I go to the bathroom. And 20 years of H E double hockey sticks. My gyno told me he thought I had IC and told me all about it. I thought finally I'm cured!! Yeah right!! so he sent back to the urologist who laughed at me and said who told you that. Now, here's where you let all those years of anger out, your going to have to do it. Use your power within!! There is a test called hyrodistention of the bladder, make them do it! Even if it is a waste of his time. You are worth it! Its the only one that can prove you have it. And, unfortunatly it sometimes doesn't. But thank god for me it did. He told me without a doubt I do have it. Also unfortunatly they make one pill for it Elmiron that could take up to 6 months to show any improvement. And your hair will probably fall out and you'll gain weight. but who cares, at this point! Right?? And everyone with the disease is completely different so theres not one cure all. You have to try everything till you find something, that might ease your pain some. I wrote 2 other articles about IC if you want to read more about it. Because I could go on forever! http://hubpages.com/hub/interstitial-cystitis-pain and the other is http://hubpages.com/hub/interstitialcystitis I also have severe fibromyalgia which is common, lots of times where theres one theres the other. Hateful Migraines, Arthritis, allergies, IBS, Skin Sensitivity, and Asthma. But the best part is I have an awsome husband who loves me inspite of it all!! And three completely wonderful daughters. All four being the love of my life! So in between crying and suffering and sleeping. Look at the good things in your life! Slap a smile on your face! And in the wonderful words of Joe Dirt you gotta Keep on Keeping on!!

I would like to introduce you to Judith,She will be sharing some very helpful healing advise, this week. I am hornored to have you welcome !

--------------------

Thank you, Melinda, for featuring me! However, I don't know where to begin because there is so much to share that I am excited about, and I don't even how to include it all! I think what I'll do is say just a little about most of it, and then I'll be happy to elaborate on any of it for anyone interested in knowing more. Just send me a message, and I'll tell you all you want to know! First of all, I just love my work as a psychotherapist in private practice in West Los Angeles. My focus is on discovering solutions, creating positive change, and healing. You can read about my work on my website at www.judithdagleyflahertylmft.com You can also read my weekly blog on the site, "Blogging for Change," and post comments or questions about the blogs that I will respond to right away. I love hearing from readers! I should also mention that I've developed the ability to work energetically and intuitively, and so often do phone sessions with people who live too far away to come in to see me. AND...I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to anyone who wants one! In addition to psychotherapy, I have studied shamanism with a shamanic healer in New Mexico, taken shamanic journeys, and practice shamanism a little on my own now. I also have studied Native American healing with Pueblo Indians (again in New Mexico!), and stay with my Native American friends when I visit Santa Fe (which is as often as I can!). Another thing I do is present workshops and seminars incorporating things I have learned or inspire me into the field of psychotherapy. I recently presented one on the power of poetry in therapy at a seminar in Maui. I'm presenting a workshop on August 1st for therapists here in L.A. on applying the principles of shamanism to their work in creating positive change. I'm really excited about that one! Its called "Therapists: Shamans of Change." Now! The best for last! The most radically wonderful thing in my life right now is that I healed myself about two months ago from a year long, life threatening, supposedly chronic, illness!! Do you doubt that's possible? So did I until I DID it, and it only took about two weeks. I began to receive guidance "out of the blue," and I followed it. That's all, really. But whoa! What I realized to my amazement was that I was channeling this guidance! And in addition to learning to heal myself, I've gotten lots of invaluable information about this planet, why we're here, and how to clear old "programs" internally that keep us stuck and prevent us from attracting what we want. My consciousness has expanded, I'm learning to stay in the state of "unconditional" love more and more, and actually choose my experiences in the moment! Needles to say, this guidance is not something I'm going to give up!! I've found confirmation and support from a master channeler here in L.A., and everything has fallen into place. What I want to say to you who are reading this is that I'm nobody special, or at least not more special than you are. ANYONE can heal themselves, and anyone can channel. In fact, everybody does it sometimes without even realizing it! And the frequency of the planet is changing, so it is becoming much easier to do. If you want to learn more about how to heal yourself, the first, critical, step is to believe 100% that you CAN. You are source energy! We just "forgot." Don't buy into anyone's doubts about that. As I said, I'll be happy to share with you more about how I learned to do it. I could go on and on about that--I want to share all about it with everyone--but I think I've taken up enough space, and said enough for now. Besides, I'm getting tired of talking about myself! I wish you all radiant health and abundant self-love !
